Cat Fancy

It's still February, but it's been feeling like Spring in Seattle. Guess what that means? Shorts! Well, it's not quite warm enough for shorts alone, so these sheer mock thigh-high kitty tights will have to do for now.
Also hello haircut!
I found this sweater at H&M the other day, and I can't help by think of Liv Tyler in Empire Records.
Can we appreciate the cute little cat tails on the back of the tights?
My sister managed to get a smile out of me while taking these photos.
Sweater: H&M  //  Shorts: DIY  //  Tights: Hot Topic // Boots: Thrifted  //  Necklace: Gift

I dunno, I was just feeling the Spring mood today. And I've never been one to rock the baby blue, but I guess it works on me!
Today's post title comes to you courtesy of local band Tacocat. It's a ridiculous song that's literally about the magazine Cat Fancy. Because why not?

Are you feeling the Spring vibes lately? Or is it still freezing where you are?

Adventures In Your Own Backyard

And outfit post? What? WHAT IS HAPPENING?!

I know, I know. I haven't done one of these in months. Months I tell you! But I have returned. My friend Laurel and I went for a walk earlier and took some photos for this here blog, and a little video for my YouTube channel.

Top 10 Outfits of 2014

I haven't honestly done an outfit post in months. But since I did a countdown last year of my favorite looks of the previous year, I figured I'd do another one this year. It's only fair. My style has come a long way. And I promise to get back to outfit posts soon. I just need to convince my roommates to go shooting with me.

And without further ado...

These Shoes Are Made For Shooting

I see a lot of live music, that's no secret. But when it comes to dressing for shows, I have a bit of a formula. Really the only common integer is COMFORTABLE SHOES. I see so many girls at shows wearing shoes that would either twist their ankle at any wrong turn or stab a straw foot and all I can think is your poor feet. What did they ever do to you?

(Don't You) Forget About Me

It has been way too long, people. WAY too long.

I've acquired some new items this month, and I needed to show them to you in all their summery glory.

Nice Overalls | Sister Style

My sister is home from school for the summer, so that means I have a subject to photograph whenever the hell I want (well, at least when she's not at her internship). The other day, she was rocking this exact outfit around the house and I had a flashback to 90s Nickelodeon - specifically Alex Mack. Remember than show Larisa Oleynik was in, where she had special powers after surviving a chemical spill? No, well please go check it out. Nickelodeon was pretty fucked up in the 90s.

Well That Was Easy

Nothing makes me more excited than finding new cool items of clothing that I can wear to work - but don't look like work clothes. Oh the perks of a loose black and white dress code.

The Sun Dogs I: Spirit Modules

It was 85 degrees today. It was officially hot. Like hot to the point where when I ordered my coffee, my barista automatically picked up a plastic cup for an iced americano. So in honor of the impending Summer, I rocked shorts without tights for the first time in quite awhile. Plus, I shaved my legs last night so I didn't want to waste my fresh smooth legs.

An Honest Romance

You might be wondering, "Abby what is this romance you speak of? Have you been keeping a secret from us?" Well friends, I have been keeping something from you - one of the most honest loves of my life - denim.

Cold Feet Killer

These sandals are deceiving. It was not warm when I took these shots. It was quite chilly, actually. Stupid sun with your lies!

NEW IN: Converse + Ten Hundred

So I bought a pair of shoes the other day. They're pretty sweet, right?
I saw Seattle Met post an article about the collaboration of local artist Ten Hundred with Converse a couple weeks ago, and I thought - hey way a minute I know that name! Ten Hundred actually designed the new logo for the music blog I write for, Back Beat Seattle. Small world.
Also come to find out that Ten Hundred is also known at P Smoov, a local musician that has been in the Seattle scene for years. The world is even smaller.
So when I had some time to kill before shooting an acoustic session in Pioneer Square, I stopped at the downtown Nordstrom to check out the Converse Pop-Up shop to see if they had any pairs of Ten Hundred's handpainted shoes left.
Turned out, they had plenty left! So I picked up a pair, not only because they're freaking rad, but also because I love supporting local artists. I'll just have to find some water repellent shoe protector spray to coat these bad boys so I can show them off with a pair of jeans.
Seriously how awesome are these?

If you like Ten Hundred's designs, you can check out his online shop for shirts and framed artwork.

Good Country People

I officially opened up the box of clothes that have been hibernating under my bed since September, and the first thing I grabbed was this dress. Where did I find this majestic little sun dress? At a hipster's yard sale in Tacoma last summer - for $1. I felt pretty proud of myself. When I got it last summer it didn't quite fit me across the chest, so now either I've lost inches under my armpits, or this thing stretched. Either way, I'm happy that I get to wear it. Plus, it's white! So I can wear it to work!

Make It Easy

This has nothing to do with April Fools Day. But this has everything to do with making life easy - whether it's your makeup, your outfit, your job, or anything else that comes your way. I'm not saying to take the easy way out, but I'm saying to not over think things. I tend to do that a lot, but I've found recently with my outfits most apparently - I want a no muss no fuss life.

Old Town Blues

The process that Sarah and I took to get these photos is a funny one. The usual spot where we shoot on 6th ave was unfortunately occupied by a red car so we had to improvise. We hopped in our cars and found an alleyway behind the Crown Bar. There wasn't anywhere to park, so we literally just stopped in the alley to take these pictures.

Meetings with Remarkable Men (Show Me the Hero)

Why did I name this post after a Harvey Danger song? Not any reason particular, just the fact that I've been spinning King James Version and Where Have All The Merrymakers Gone a ton over the last 24 hours. Maybe because my outfit is hardcore channeling the 90s?

Give 'em the ol' razzle dazzle

Everyone needs a little sparkle once in awhile, right?

I've recently collected up some particularly glittery wardrobe staples, so I thought I'd spotlight them here, in case you needed any inspiration to add a little razzle dazzle to your closet.

Dancing Shoes

This was not the outfit I put on yesterday. I had on different shoes, but since I had some time to kill, I stopped at Urban Xchange in downtown Tacoma for the first time in a few months, since I had some store credit to spend.

Once I got there, I found them. I found these beautiful sequin Sam Edelman Oxfords. I thought, "these can't fit me, they're too good to be true." I tried them on, and it's as if the clouds parted (granted it was quite sunny yesterday). They fit me. Like a glove. I was meant to find these shoes.

Silver Lining

I meant to post this on Friday as my own little anti-Valentine's Day look with black and silver instead of red and pink, but I ended up going out that night.

No, not "out" out. I went to my friend's apartment and drank whiskey with him and his roommates. And mused about Daria and old school Nickelodeon. We're party animals.
