Warby Parker Home Try-On

I recently went in for my routine eye exam (which I haven't actually done in three years so my bad), and come to find out - I need a new prescription! I went in for three reasons. 1.) I need an updated exam before I went off my parents' insurance. 2.) I've been squinting while driving at night. 3.) I want new glasses.

I've been wearing these frames since February 2011, so a really long freaking time.

After my exam I tried on some of the frames they had at my optician, to no avail. I went to Target. No me gusta. I stopped at Lenscrafters at the mall - again, no luck! I was running out of options other than just getting new lenses in my existing frames, but that's no fun! So I did some research into Warby Parker. Friend and fellow blogger Laura Neuzeth has done reviews of Warby Parker frames before and she loves them, so I thought I'd give it a go.

These Shoes Are Made For Shooting

I see a lot of live music, that's no secret. But when it comes to dressing for shows, I have a bit of a formula. Really the only common integer is COMFORTABLE SHOES. I see so many girls at shows wearing shoes that would either twist their ankle at any wrong turn or stab a straw foot and all I can think is your poor feet. What did they ever do to you?

July Mixtape | Forget Me Not

I photographed a friend's wedding last night, and it got me thinking about what songs I might want to play at my future wedding. When it comes to fantasizing about my dream wedding, the first things I think about are the music and who will take the photos. Predictable, aren't I? I could care less about the shoes or if my bridesmaid dresses match or if I even have flowers. But if the music isn't on point and the photos aren't what I want, I'll cut someone.

Maybe I'm overreacting, but you know what I mean.

GOING LOCAL || Schmidt's Bergamot & Lime Deodorant

I've always been a huge fan of supporting small businesses - so I thought I'd start shopping local more often. And I'm running low on deodorant, so I'm starting there. Schmidt's Natural Deodorant hails from Portland, and it's aluminum-free, cruelty-free, and smells divine! So I figured, well why not?

Get Soft and Stroke-able Locks

I've always been one to try new hair products, and while I have my old faithful products from Lush, I always like playing with new ones. Because I don't already have enough shampoos, right?

It also doesn't really help that we just launched a new hair gel - Zeste. It's a seaweed and orange juice based jelly, for your hair! What the hell?

Gluten-Free Bacon Mac & Cheese

I was watching Diners Drive-Ins and Dives the other day, and found what looked to be the most delicious macaroni and cheese I've ever seen - and the entire recipe was void of flour. Score!

I'm not gluten-free 100% of the time, but I try to be as gluten-free as possible. My mom is gluten intolerant and my sister is severely Celiac, so the last thing I want to do is make a big pot of mac 'n cheese that only I'm going to eat.

Life Lately | Hangin' On

You know those times when you have so much to do that you don't do any of it? I've had a bit of that lately, mainly just with writing, which is weird because it's one of my favorite things in the world. I feel like I do my best writing at the wee hours of the morning in my bed, but then those are also the times when I'm the closest to sleeping. Usually sleeping beats out writing. I need to change that, especially because I have a lot to catch up on.
It's summer now, which really doesn't have any significance for me anymore, since I'm not in school. What really is summer for non-students, anyway? For those of us that work retail, it's the time of year where teenagers are running around the mall for hours at a time with $20 to waste our time instead of their parents'. It's a joyous time, most definitely. Last year it was around this time when I got hired at Lush (so it's been a year, which is crazy as hell), but this summer feels different. Last summer I was all about finding my place in my new job with my new coworkers in a new company. It's been an amazing year, for so many reasons. So many reasons that if I tried to list them, it would take too much time. But the TL;DR version of it - Lushies, YouTube, new friends, being okay with myself.
The last one is the most important one. It's been almost a year and a half of being single, and I've never felt more confident and sexy in my own skin than I have the last few months. I've made some amazing connections with new friends that I attribute a lot of this to, but it feels good to feel good for once.

I'm not entirely sure what the significance of these photos are - maybe it's the mood, maybe it was my overall lazy day attitude last week, who knows. This week is going to be much busier for reasons I'd rather leave to the imagination, but it will also be a lot more exhilarating. I'll keep you posted, for sure.
But for the last bit of business - I'm currently constantly spinning this new record from My Goodness. It's seriously so good you guys. I've only seen them twice and I feel like a doofus for not discovering them sooner. Buy this thing, guys. It's loud and fast and heavy and raw and perfect. I've been shouting out all the lyrics along with Joel Schneider in my car the last two weeks. It's some heavy shit.

What are you recent inner musings? I felt the need to spit out words for no particular reason tonight. Also you seriously need to check out My Goodness. Today's post title is, after all, a track from Shiver + Shake.
