Vinyl | Promises

More vinyls, yay! For today's installment, I'm spotlighting a little 7" I found at Sonic Boom Records in Ballard a few months ago. You see how cheap this thing was? $2.99! I love buying used. I've found some great CDs at Sonic Boom and Easy Street for like $3 used, which is always nice. It's like buying secondhand furniture - it's already worn in and already loved, but you get to give it a new home.

I already owned Big Echo on CD, which this single was from, but when I saw this, I knew I had to have it. I haven't seen the Morning Benders (now Pop Etc) in over three years, so clearly I miss them.

This was one of the first 7" vinyls to my collection - the other being some rare We Are Scientists records I got from Ebay. Those will be coming up soon in a post, as soon as I find them in box in the basement. They're around here somewhere. And they're red.

Chris Chu, please come back to America and tour. Please. I miss your lovely voice.

I love that they included this little prose in the vinyl too - it's in the booklet for Big Echo, and it's one of my favorite things.

Also, it's my favorite thing to see which number this was out of a small printing. I got copy number 42! The answer to life, the universe, and everything!

Vinyl | Reignwolf

Here is the second installment of my budding vinyl collection - Reignwolf. I saw Jordan Cook and his band Reignwolf last week at the Neptune - as my last show of 2013 and it blew my mind. I've seen him twice before - Sasquatch 2012 and Sasquatch 2013, but I was super stoked to see him again. Not only because I love shooting him, but because I owed him a big fat thank you for loving my photos. 

This last summer his publicist emailed me about using one of my photos from Sasquatch 2013 for Lollapalooza PR, and because I was incredibly flattered that Jordan wanted to use my photo specifically I said yes.

I'm writing this post from the Cupcake Royale off California Ave in West Seattle, and I'm literally the only person sitting at these tables. It's weird. It's a Saturday night at a quarter to six. Then again it is the last Saturday before Christmas, so shopping is in overdrive. 

That was gratuitous, but I wanted to write this little post about the start of my record collection. I went to a show a few weeks ago where Arkomo and Silver Torches played at the Tractor Tavern. It was a good time, seeing a bunch of people I knew and hadn't seen in awhile. And while I was there, I picked up the Arkomo record. Arkomo is local musician Sam Anderson's solo project - Sam usually played cello with Hey Marseilles, so obviously I was going to go.
