Wishful Thinking: September

Here I have this month's edition of "Wishful Thinking!" I went to Portland last weekend, and did a little bit of shopping, but it didn't fully satisfy my thirst for some retail therapy.

Since it's almost fall, I will be needed some outerwear (besides denim, because I've got a lot of denim). I love hoodies, because they're so easy and comfortable, and I absolutely love the look of this one from Modcloth, called the "Leipzig Hoodie." I'm not sure why, but it just looks slightly more dressed up than the American Apparel hoodies I've accumulated over the years. Modcloth has it in a few different colors, but black goes with everything.

One thing I did try out at Blush Beauty Bar in Portland while I was there was this perfume oil called Black Amber that I wasn't too keen on when I first put it on. I was also turned off by the price - $90. But after having it on my skin for a day I loved it so much that I didn't even want to wash it off. It has a warm autumn-y patchouli and amber scent (hence the title), and I almost like it more than Tom Ford's Black Orchid, which you all know I lust after. I can almost smell residual patchouli on my wrist three days later. THREE DAYS PEOPLE.

The next thing isn't something I usually include in these but HOLY CRAP. I've heard the new Arctic Monkeys record "AM" all the way through and it's flawless. I usually only spend money on records from local artists and We Are Scientists, but I want this physical album in my life because it's that good. So good.

Now onto the Lush stuff. All of this is retro, because I'm obsessed with the retro products. We've gotten a little bit of a sneak peak for the Halloween and Christmas products to come, and I'm already anxious for it. Retro is my way of ogling at "new" products. First we have Smargadine Bubble Bath, a deep green liquid that smells of patchouli, ginger, and sandalwood. That sounds like heaven in a bottle. All That Jasmine Bath Bomb smells like vetivert and - surprise - jasmine, a.k.a. Silky Underwear, which is one of my favorite scents in the store. Schnuggle Body Butter is another heavenly scent - lavender, chamomile, and sandalwood - just like the Dreamtime bath melt, so that's one I've got my eye on. The last thing is a soap that was recommended to me but a coworker. I don't often use bar soap, I just prefer liquid, but Banana Moon just sounds too delicious to pass up. The bananas and yogurt are soothing, filled with vitamins, and the bananas act as a humectant on the skin so that helps my dry skin retain its moisture after a bath.

So what are you coveting this month? Let me know if you've tried any of these products and go listen to the new Arctic Monkeys record right now because it's so good.
