Not Young, Not Old

Something about this outfit just screams nostalgia. It screams childhood, and it screams youth, hence the title of this post. It's a Campfire OK song that I quite like, that you should definitely check out. But, on to the real purpose of this post.
I was testing out shooting myself in the backyard with my remote the other day and I'm so glad I finally figured it out! For some reason I never thought my tripod would work for vertical photos, but as you can see I was wrong!

This dress is one of my favorite spring dresses, and I actually don't wear it enough. It's a collared dress I found at TJ Maxx last year, and it has bunny rabbits on it. Actual bunny rabbits. They're tiny enough to be subtle, but the mere fact that I know that there are little rabbits jumping all over my dress brightens my day.
I paired it with another piece from TJ Maxx, this cardi that I, again, don't wear enough. It reminds me of the old letterman sweaters guys and girls wore in the 50s, like in Grease, and I love it. The fabric is light enough for spring and summer but not as flimsy and see-through as some cardigans I've gotten from H&M or Target in the past. I think the original price on it was $60 but I got it for like $14.99 or something like that. It's one of the many reasons I love TJ Maxx, Marshall's, and Ross.

I'm wearing my familiar brown skinny belt from Target, and a necklace from Forever 21. Also, my lipstick is Revlon's Colorburst lipstick in Fuschia. I really hope they haven't discontinued those things in favor of the Colorburst Lip Butters, because this is still one of my favorite lipsticks of all time. It's the first bright lipstick I ever bought and it set me on an even brighter path.
The other thing that made this outfit so nostalgic and childlike for me was my Chuck Taylors. These things are old. They are worn, they are dirty, and they are perfect. For me, Chuck Taylors aren't perfect until they are dirty and worn-in. I love me some pristine white Keds, but with Converse it's all about the stains.
Whenever I think of Converse I think of The Sandlot (and yes I know those were PF Flyers), E.T. and The Goonies. Whoa, maybe I just associate Converse with Spielberg.
Dress: TJ Maxx // Cardi: TJ Maxx // Belt: Target // Necklace: Forever 21 // Shoes: Chuck Taylor All-Stars //
Lipstick: Revlon Colorburst lipstick in Fuschia

I dunno, I'm just in a nostalgic mood lately, especially since it's the theme for Wonderly in case you didn't know. It's a thing I'm a part of also in case you didn't know. Check it out, please!
