Featured Etsy Shop: The Mindful Mushroom

I'm a longtime Etsy lover (seeing that I sell things on Etsy, I tend to browse the other shops quite regularly). And because of that wonderful community of small business owners that Etsy cultivates, I thought I would spotlight a new shop I discovered recently.

I've been coveting all the patchouli scents (I don't know why, maybe I'm channeling my inner dirty hippie), so when browsing the perfumes, I found this shop - The Mindful Mushroom.

First of all, this shop's aesthetic is so old-school witchy apothecary, which I automatically love. I reminds me of Hocus Pocus or Practical Magic, so perfect for Halloween.
Also the names of the perfume oils live up to the witchy aesthetic - with such scents as Gothic Girl, Dracula, Deadly Nightshade, Black Cat, and Cemetery Girl. With names like these, I'm sold.
I put in an order of 10 sample vials ($25) to try out a bunch of scents. Like I said, I've been looking for a deep fall scent, and I always love supporting small businesses.
Look at how cute the package is? This is how the things came wrapped! I can say I've never seen so much care put into a little cardboard box.
The scents I ordered were as follows:
  • Annabel Lee (fern, jasmine, orris, sandalwood)
  • Zine Queen (cedar, lavender, orange, patchouli, sandalwood)
  • Voodoo Queen (frankincense, tobacco, balsam, citrus, rum, myrrh)
  • Penelope (cypress, sandalwood, vetiver, balsam)
  • The Poet (frankincense, cinnamon, dragons blood, wood smoke)
  • Ophelia (jasmine, amber, musk)
  • Dear John (amber, myrrh, sandalwood, patchouli, sage)
  • Gothic Girl (dark chocolate, vanilla, bergamot peel, patchouli)
  • Coffee Shop (coffee, vanilla, cream, cinnamon, caramel)
  • Deadly Nightshade (thyme, parsley, blue sage, marjoram, bay)
The last three, Gothic Girl, Coffee Shop, and Deadly Nightshade are my favorite so far. I haven't had a chance to wear all of them out though, as I just got them a few days ago. But I will tell you, if you've been looking for anything coffee scented - this one smells true to its name. What I imagine a barista's shirt would smell like at the end of a 6-hour shift. Mmm now I want coffee. Or maybe just to make out with someone that smells like coffee.
I did get another scent as a special gift sample - Unseelie Court (cherry, oakmoss, lavender, rose, patchouli), which is quite nice as well.

I'm eager to try the rest of the scents, and I urge you to take a look at the site if you like that homemade hippie dippy trippy vibe like me. The perfume oils come in a variety of containers, including old amber apothecary bottles and roll-ons, so it can match your style. There are also some other cosmetics, like vegan (coffee!) scrub, eyeshadow, and bath salts on the site too. I might have to try that coffee scrub once I run out of my Ocean Salt.

  1. This shop looks awesome, I'm definitely going to order soon! How are you currently feeling about the Deadly Nightshade scent? The notes of thyme, parsley, and bay leaves kind of.. intimidate me. Or make me think that I'm going to smell like a beef stew ha!
