Dots and Dashes (Enough Already)

I don't often mix patterns. I used to be one of those girls that just wore one pattern and then a pair of jeans. I used to not have a lot of creativity in my wardrobe, and I would always wear the same pieces together. BOOORING.

On this day particular, I was inspired by another blogger, Kendi Everyday, and her post about mixing striped and spots. Now, as you can see my skirt is less of a stripe pattern and more of a Chevron motif, but you get what I was going for. I honestly don't have a lot of stripes in my wardrobe, which certainly needs to be fixed.

I'm not a huge fan of how the skirt looks in this one, because of my natural childbearing hips and my relatively tiny waist in comparison. Let me tell ya, fitting pants in a real pain in the butt when hips like these.

I mean, they don't lie.
(I had to do it.)

I got the skirt from TJ Maxx a couple years ago, and the top is my sister's (which I think she got from H&M last year. I can't exactly remember.
Shoes are my Sam Edelman Javis, which I recently wore in another outfit post in a completely different way. I do love them so.

Top: Not sure // Skirt: TJ Maxx // Shoes: Sam Edelman (Ebay) // Necklace: Untamed Menagerie // Belt: Target
This necklace came from one of my favorite Etsy sellers, Untamed Menagerie. I have around 4-5 pieces from her and they are all just gorgeous; fragile, but gorgeous. She doesn't currently have this piece listed on her store, but she does update it often with new and repressed items. My other favorite piece I own is the Queen of Hearts Studs.
Sarah made me do a jumping picture, and this is what came from it.
I paired this hodgepodge of patterns with a simple makeup look - winged liner and bright red lipstick. I recently broke out Mac's Lady Danger again for spring (because it was 70 degrees yesterday!). It's one of my favorite reds, such a perfect orange-red. I wear a bluer-based red lipliner underneath it, not necessarily to change the color, just to make it last longer (even though this baby lasts like 4-5 hours on me without lipliner).
Seriously, with lipliner it lasts 6-7 hours. That's crazy awesome for a lipstick, and it stays comfortable too. Could you ask for more? Nope.
I may or may not have picked these pictures because they hide my terrible blonde roots, even though in this last one you can kind of see them still. Sigh.

Best wishes!
-Abby
