Meet Virginia

Today's post title is brought to you by Train. Yes, Train.

Why? Mainly because this hairstyle makes me feel very Virginia Woolf as well as simultaneously very Downton Abbey. Also someone told me recently that I looked like Virginia Woolf. I don't know how much of a compliment that was. And the only book of hers I've read is Mrs. Dalloway, which I absolutely hated. But thankfully, I didn't hate this outfit.

Now that was a segue if I've ever seen one.

Life Lately: Boris Yeltsin and the Tow Truck Incident

So I wouldn't necessarily say that my life has been exciting lately, per say, but it's been... interesting.

I'll start out with where it began last Wednesday. I decided to shoot two shows that night. Why? I don't know. I'm crazy.

It started at the Showbox SoDo for the James Blake, a.k.a. lanky ginger white guy with the voice of an angel trying to seduce your panties off. Seriously, the guy's voice is pure sex. I managed to get a photo pass for the show the night before, so I was able to go for free thankfully. I'm not a huge fan of SoDo, so I'm never too keen on paying for shows there, especially when they're over $20. I'm cheap.

Calling All Doctors

It's kind of perfect timing that I was able to shoot this outfit when I did (yesterday), because guess what today is?

It's the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who! I am a longtime Doctor Who fan (David Tennant was my first Doctor, but I have since gone back and watched a bunch of the old seasons), and I wanted to do an outfit inspired by the Doctor himself.

NEW IN: Tom Ford Black Orchid Eau de Parfum

Hello Tom Ford Black Orchid! I finally have this beautiful thing in my possession. I got my shipment from Sephora's VIB 20% off sale the other day and needless to say, I was ecstatic. Because I was getting the 20% off, I purchased the medium size of this perfume, $110 regularly for 1.7 fl oz.

Autumnal and Abandoned

It's not officially Autumn for me until we fall back for Daylight Savings. The nights are longer, the wind is colder, the sky is greyer, and the air is crisper. Even though the Pacific Northwest version of Autumn is nothing like the picturesque New England Autumns you see in films or on postcards, our version has its quirks.

While New England takes on a deep burnt orange tint all around, our weather just starts to look creepier. Autumn Washington is like those film filters that make outdoor scenes look eerie and abandoned and old.

And I like that.

Somehow I captured these two photos at Point Defiance Park on the day Sarah and I shot the last three outfits I posted (we did three in one day, like champs) and it was the Golden Hour so it was just the right time of day. But most of the time, Autumn Washington is considerably desaturated in color.

With this sudden change in color scheme and overall feel of our dear state, I've had the sudden urge to want to visit all the ghost towns in Washington and photograph them. Sadly all the ones around me are nearly and hour away from my house, but there are a lot that are within that hour diameter of my house. I've seen so many slideshows and photo recently of beautiful abandoned places, and I thought that I'd explore the idea of Washington having some beautiful abandoned places. Turns out, there's an entire website devoted to the ghost towns in this state - GhostTownsofWashington.com

After stumbling upon this site, I've decided that I want to visit several of these little hidden cities before the end of the year. Hey, maybe I'll shoot an outfit or two at one of these places. I just love the idea of things that once were and are no more, but still exist. That's why I'm so fascinated with antiques and secondhand clothes and ghosts. After being so connected to the past throughout my whole life through those various routes, I've started to think like Zak Bagans, one of the big loud guys from Ghost Adventures. Objects absorb memories, and whether or not those memories project themselves outward or just stay contained within those objects - it doesn't really matter.

I find myself to be a bit of a spiritual in that way. I won't say that it's a religious thing, because for me it's not, but more so the interest being passed down from my mother.

I just needed to sit down and write something today, and I wanted to share these photos with you guys, because I quite enjoy them.

I will definitely be posting photos of the ghost towns once I make my way out to one. I'm actually really excited about this now.
Do you believe in ghosts?

I am back with more Lush holiday products from this year's collection. Can you tell that I'm excited about holiday products? I'm not even done yet, seriously. We've got a month and a half left with this stuff.

Share the Love: November

Time to share some love around here!
I do a series of "Bands You Need To Listen To" videos on my YouTube, so I thought why not do a bloggers you need to check out series on my blog?

I'll be featuring four bloggers that I enjoy every month, hopefully at the start of every month. This process will also make me branch out and discover new people to follow. I get something out of it, and hopefully you will too!

Sunset Soon Forgotten

This weekend we'll be setting our clocks back as it's the end of Daylight Savings, so needless to say, I'm glad we'll have some more sun later in the day. Nothing messes with my body clock like starting work in the dark at 5 p.m.

But along with this weird lack of daylight, comes some of the lovely weather of the year. September and October in the Pacific Northwest are definitely my favorites.
