GETTING TO KNOW: Lush "Love Lettuce"

For some reason, I wanted to start my series with the most exfoliating and intense masks, that way if my skin had an adverse reaction, I could use the calmer, more moisturizing masks to fix it.
Thankfully, Love Lettuce didn't give me an adverse reaction.

GETTING TO KNOW: Lush Fresh Face Masks

Since I've started working at Lush (I know I've mentioned it enough times already), I've wanted to try so many different things, not only to see how they work for me but to make it easier to explain to customers how they may or may not work for them.

And since I do have this little blog here, I might as well review some of the products for you here! One thing that we sell quite a lot of are the Fresh Face Masks. I recently did a review of Catastrophe Cosmetic, which is the second mask I'd tried (The Sacred Truth being the first), and these are the rest of the ones I have not tried (I gave my sample of Cosmetic Warrior to a friend). In the coming week, I'm going to be trying all of these masks for you guys. *Note* I have mildly sensitive skin (mostly caused by chemicals), and it's also dry/combination. So obviously my reaction to a product won't be the same as someone with oily skin, but I will try my best to speak objectively. It should be easier now since I've learned about the products more closely.

I hope you're as excited as I am!

LIFE LATELY: Lush, Cyndi Lauper, and LOVE FOR ALL.

This post has been sitting in my drafts folder for almost a week and I haven't had the time or energy to sit down and write it. But today was so exciting I couldn't not sit down and write something about it.

Today is groundbreaking. Today is historical. Today is awesome.

Don't Fence Me In

I love flowy skirts. They are the red lipstick of fashion, because they are truly one of the most universally-flattering pieces of clothing that anyone can rock, whether it's a maxi or midi length. You just have to find the right length, and you've got the easiest and more comfortable piece of clothing in your wardrobe.

Electric Bloom

It was actually 9 o'clock when we took these pictures (granted my camera settings were far different than when it's 4 p.m), but you can see why I love this time of the year. It stays so light so late and it's wonderful!

RECIPE: Rice Pudding à la Leftovers

Am I the only one who makes a huge amount of rice when I make dinner? Like way too much rice for one family to eat and then let it sit in the fridge for a week? This happens a lot, clearly, and sometimes I get bored with making fried rice with the leftovers, or eating it with chicken and gravy.

This rice that I had leftover was some purple jasmine rice. It was purple for the mere fact that some of the grains in the original bag were purple and turned the whole batch a pretty deep plum color when it boiled. And it was tasty as all hell. We made the rice to eat with some lamb kabobs, and made way too much.

So I thought, what could I make with this weird purple rice? It was a fragrant jasmine rice, so we didn't flavor it with anything, so it was open to both savory and sweet options.

Hmm, sweet?

Comfy in Nautica

Today was my second day at Lush, and as part of the black and white dress code, I wore this dress I got from Forever 21 last year. It's one of my favorite staple pieces - with thick straps so my bra straps don't show and it's short but not too short. In the winter I can pair it with tights, cardigan, and boots and I'm set. It's such a versatile dress, and because it's monochrome it goes with all kinds of accessories. And the fabric has just enough stretch it it where it hugs the body in all the right places. It's so comfortable.

REVIEW: Chanel "Boy" Rouge Coco Shine

I recently had a string of good karma - got a new job at Lush, quit my job at Animal Crackers, one other thing I can't quite tell you about yet. ;) Because of all of this awesome stuff happening, I rewarded myself with a new lipstick. A girl deserves to splurge once in awhile with a $34 lipstick. Don't judge me.
